Men's Soccer Falls at Lafayette, 2-0

EASTON, Pa. – Competing in the last road game of the regular season, the Boston University men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Lafayette on Friday night.
With their eighth shutout of the season, the Leopards improve to 6-6-5 and 3-2-3 in conference play, as the Terriers (8-7-0, 4-4-0 PL) suffered their fourth straight loss. Lafayette struck first at 13:28 and added an insurance goal 42 seconds later to move into a tie-for-fifth in the standings with BU at 12 points apiece.
Though out of contention to three-peat as Patriot League regular season champs with one game left, BU has clinched a spot in the six-team PL tournament and will have the opportunity to compete for its second tournament title in three years starting on Saturday, Nov. 8, at a location to be determined.
HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Terriers cleared the game's first corner in the ninth minute, the Leopards took the lead for good five minutes later with Riley Martin scoring off an assist from Samir Dishnica.
- Dishnica then added to the lead at 14:10 with a goal set up by Anthony Durling.
- Senior Ben Alexander earned his first save at 17:13 and added another six minutes later.
- Sophomore Pharis Petrica recorded BU's first two shot attempts, first sending one wide at 31:18 and then had another blocked at 36:49.
- In the second half, senior Ethan Gill went over the crossbar at 53:57 and four minutes later forced a save by Eric Axtman.
- Trying to mount a rally, BU received a red card at 67:32 due to a mistimed tackle.
- Though down a man for the rest of the contest, the Terriers continued to fight, recording four more shots while earning a couple of corner kicks.
- Lafayette's backline stayed intact to seal the win.
- BU edged the Leopards in both shots, 10-9, and corner kicks, 4-2, with all four corners occurring in the second half.
- Alexander totaled four saves at net, while Axtman had one.
- Alexander, junior Andrea Di Blasio, Gill, freshman Anthony Harper and sophomore Charlie Tuckerman played all 90 minutes.
- Lafayette broke the deadlock with BU to improve to 6-5-3 all-time in the series that dates back to 2013.
- The Terriers will return to Nickerson Field to conclude the regular season on Tuesday (Nov. 4) with a 6 p.m. start time against Holy Cross.
- Last season in Worcester, the Crusaders struck first during the 30th minute, and senior Alex Bonnington netted the equalizer at 38:11 in a contest that finished in a 1-1 draw.
- Two years ago, BU scored all three goals during the first 21 minutes of the contest at Nickerson Field to claim a 3-0 victory.
- The Terriers will need a win and other results to go their way to earn hosting rights for the PL quarterfinal game
