Mikaul to Compete at ITA East Sectional Championships

BOSTON – Sophomore Gabriella Mikaul of the women's tennis team is prepped for the ITA East Sectional Championships at North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., this weekend. She will compete the singles draw for a spot at the NCAA Singles Championships which begins on Nov. 18.
Mikaul will face Alanis Hamilton of UNC in the round of 32 on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. If she advances to the round of 16, she will face the winner of the match between Duke's No. 42Eleana Yu and South Carolina's No. 24 Kaitlyn Carnicella. The tournament will run until Sunday, Nov. 9.
To advance to the NCAA Singles Championship, Mikaul will have to advance to the semifinals or win a quarterfinal playoff. All four semifinalists will make the tournament while only two from the quarterfinal playoff will advance to the championship.
Mikaul is one of 32 athletes from 17 schools competing in the tournament. She is the only Patriot League representative. The sophomore qualified for the Sectional Championships after advancing to the quarterfinals at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships earlier this fall.
