Terriers Fall to UMass, 161-139; Ndubuisi Sets 200 Back Pool Record

AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman Danka Ndubuisi swept the backstroke events and broke the 200-yard pool record but the Boston University women's swimming & diving team were topped at Massachusetts by a score of 161-139 on Saturday at Rogers Pool.
Ndbuisi opened with a win in the 100 backstroke (56.50) before swimming the fourth-fastest 200 backstroke in program history - 2:00.51 - to set the UMass pool record.
Sophomore Cambria Jewett was victorious in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:05.75 while finishing runner-up to Ndubuisi in the 200 backstroke (2:03.02). Senior Haley Newman took first in the 200 individual medley (2:06.38) and was second in the 1000 freestyle (10:34.90).
Freshman Molly Barber won the 50 freestyle (23.40) while classmate Alayna Kennedy finished first in the 1-meter dive (288.83) and was runner-up on the 3-meter (278.33).
The 400 freestyle relay of Ndubuisi and fellow freshmen Kiki Rampersad, Lily Osborn and Barber won in a time of 3:30.75.
This marked BU's final dual of the semester and the season record now stands at 2-3. The Terriers will return to action on Nov. 21-23 for the Terrier Invite.
