Barnes Named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Will Barnes of the Boston University men's lacrosse team was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Barnes claimed the award for the fifth time this season after a spectacular performance in Saturday's 12-7 win over Lehigh. He made a career-high 23 stops against the Mountain Hawks to help BU clinch a top-four seed in the Patriot League Tournament. Not only was Barnes a brick wall, but he was able to generate multiple transition opportunities that led to goals thanks to making clean saves and outletting the ball quickly.
Barnes' previous career best was a 22-save effort in a 10-9 win at then-No. 2/3 Army West Point on March 22. Barnes is the only goalie in program history with three games of 20 or more saves, and he has won all three contests. He ranks third in the NCAA with a.604 save percentage and seventh in the nation with an 8.50 goals-against average.
BU will conclude the regular season on Friday when the Terriers host Colgate at Nickerson Field. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
