Returning for a 17th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Monday and Wednesday this summer as we unveil this year's Terrier Twelve onÂ
GoTerriers.com.
Â
Coming in at number eight in this year's Terrier Twelve is lightweight rowing, which capped a historic 2024-25 campaign with another team podium finish at the IRA National Championship Regatta in June.
Â
The success began in the fall with the Head of the Charles Regatta, where BU's Lightweight 8+ and top Championship Double crews posted the top collegiate times in their respective entries. Juniors
Kylie Lough and
Caroline Burchette comprised the 2x for a result of 19:13.923. The Terrier Lightweight 8+, with
Heather Shinn as the coxswain and
Nora Hemsley in the stroke seat, posted a time of 16:29.965, which was just 0.689 seconds behind an Australian club crew that finished first overall in the event.
Â
Spring arrived with the Terriers garnering two selections on the CRCA Athletes to Watch List: senior
Zoey Goodness and junior
Ela Ersan. In the first race on the docket, BU bested local rival Boston College in the Varsity 8+ to retain the Gummy Bear Bowl trophy to set the tone for the rest of the spring.
Â
BU made history at the Knecht Cup in April. After defending their title in the Lightweight 8+ event to retain the Danielle Kousoulis Memorial Trophy, the Terriers finished first in the Varsity 8+ entry for the first time in the program's existence to snag the Ann Harris Smith Memorial Trophy. A week later, BU's top eight boat continued its success with a victory over Harvard-Radcliffe and MIT to reclaim the Beanpot title. The Terriers concluded April with a dual race sweep against Stanford at Redwood Shores.
Â
At the 2025 Eastern Sprints, BU finished second overall while collecting three gold medals. Lough and sophomore
Sam Angel won the Lightweight 2x event, the Terriers' third-consecutive victory in the entry. Sophomores
Chloe Capizzi and
Emilia Vukasinovic posted a wire-to-wire win in the Lightweight "B" Double event, while freshman coxswain
Mira Saldanha and sophomore stroke seat
Jasmine Wu guided the Lightweight 4+ "B" crew to gold after fending off Wisconsin.
Â
The IRA Championship concluded the spring slate, where BU finished third overall as a team for the second consecutive year. The Lightweight Double once again spotlighted BU's performance, as Lough and junior
Catherine Clark won the event in 7:37.350 to win the national title in the event. Lough became the second Terrier in program history to earn multiple IRA gold medals in the 2x as she secured the program's fifth total first-place result in the entry.
Â
Goodness and classmate
Lulu Smith were tabbed as CRCA All-Americans for the first time in their careers. Smith was also one of four CRCA Scholar-Athletes, joined by Shinn, senior
Savanna Jacovini and sophomore
Hannah Clark.
