July 23, 2025

Returning for a 17th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Monday and Wednesday this summer as we unveil this year's Terrier Twelve on GoTerriers.com.

Coming in at number seven in this year's Terrier Twelve is women's rowing, which successfully defended its Patriot League crown in May and finished 20th at the NCAA Championships.

BU started the fall with the Head of the Charles Regatta, where the Women's Club 4+ highlighted the weekend with a bronze medal finish for the second time in three years. The boat, coxed by Valeria Lizarraga Ramirez and stroked by Nina Palmer, finished the race in 18:24.347.

The Terriers started the spring with dominant performances against Cornell and George Washington, finishing ahead of both schools in the Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+ and Second Varsity 4+. BU then opened its spring slate on the Charles River against No. 22 Dartmouth, MIT and Northeastern. The Fours showed their strength with the Varsity 4+, coxed by Kennedy Walker and stroked by Lilly McSweeney, and the Second Varsity 4+, coxed by Alex Aravides and stroked by Elisabeth Arnason, finishing first in their respective races. BU's Varsity 8+, coxed by Audrey Lucerne and stroked by Sotiria Angou, finished second only behind the Big Green.

BU's championship squad made its way to the Lake Wheeler Invite, where it generated 48 team points over two days, good for sixth. Out of the 18 schools at the regatta, BU only finished behind Virginia, Duke, Columbia, Clemson and North Carolina. The Terriers battled to close finishes with the top six schools with the Eights and Second Varsity 4+ finishing third in their final races.

At Eastern Sprints, the Varsity 8+ won the Petite Final with the fifth-fastest overall time in the field. Lucerne coxed the boat and Angou sat stroke seat to lead BU to a 7:01.958 finish. The Second Varsity 4+, coxed by Aravides and stroked by Arnason, had the highest individual boat finish, coming in fifth in the Grand Final with a time of 8:42.314. BU's Third Varsity 8+ and Third Varsity 4+ also won their respective Petite Finals while the Varsity 4+ finished sixth in the Grand Final.

BU dominated at the Patriot League Championship, finishing first in three out of the four races. The Varsity 8+ was named the Patriot League Boat of the Year for the second year in a row after it finished over six seconds ahead of the second place boat from MIT. The Varsity 4+ built a four-second lead to win its race while the Second Varsity 4+ had the biggest lead of the day, finishing over 23 seconds ahead of its competition. The Terriers collected 289.5 points to secure the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Director of women's rowing Malcolm Doldron also repeated as Patriot League Coach of the Year.

Lucerne, Angou, Lydia Pelton and Ingrid Eshuis all received First Team All-Patriot League honors while Kat Robbins, Raylynn Boston and Gigi Williams were named to the second team. Lucerne and Robbins were also selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.

At the NCAA Championships, BU finished 20th overall. The Varsity 4+, coxed by Walker and stroked by McSweeney, made the C Final at the championships and finished sixth with a time of 7:29.613. Both the Varsity 8+, coxed by Lucerne and stroked by Angou, and the Second Varsity 8+, coxed by Lizarraga Ramirez and stroked by Kate Barham, finished second in their D Final races. The V8+ was behind only Northeastern while the SV8+ finished behind Oregon State.
