Women’s Soccer Begins Patriot League Play at Navy on Saturday

BOSTON – Preparing to defend its 2024 Patriot League Championship, the Boston University women's soccer program ignites conference play with a trip to Navy on Saturday (Sept. 20). Opening kick is set for 1 p.m.
 
BU posted a 3-3-2 record against out-of-league opponents to open the 2025 season. The Terriers have recorded a .500 winning percentage in road games this year, tallying 1.5 goals per game.
 
Navy paced the Patriot League with seven non-conference wins, winning three of its last four matches. At home this season, the Mids have outscored opponents 14-1.
 
Saturday's game airs on ESPN+ at the top of the hour. Live statistics are available through Navy's athletic department while the Patriot League supplies an international stream.
 
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU last played on Sept. 14, battling Bryant to a 0-0 draw at Nickerson Field.
  • Senior goalkeeper Susan Shobeiri made one save to guide the Terriers to their second shutout of 2025.
  • The Terrier senior class has accounted for 17 of BU's 34 points.
  • Seven Terriers have started all eight contests: Shobeiri, seniors Giulianna Gianino, Mackenzie Stickelman and Helene Tyburczy, juniors Ava Maguire and Ciara Kennedy and freshman Nina Tzouganatos.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday marks the 15th all-time meeting between BU and Navy in a series that began in 2013.
  • The Terriers sport a 10-3-1 record in the rivalry with a four-match unbeaten streak.
  • BU is 4-3 in road contests against the Mids.
  • Both sides played to a 1-1 tie last year at Nickerson Field. Jaiden Schultz tallied her first collegiate goal in the 33rd minute before Navy responded three minutes later.
