February 9, 2026 | Softball
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping lead the Boston University softball team to three wins, including two against Power 4 programs, junior Kylie Doherty and senior Kasey Ricard have earned Patriot League weekly awards, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Doherty collected her second career Player of the Week award with the help of a clutch sixth-inning go-ahead homer against No. 16 Duke, and Ricard claimed her 14th Pitcher of the Week honor by holding the Blue Devils, Maryland and CSU Bakersfield to just one combined (unearned) run.
A native of Bolton, Massachusetts, Doherty batted a team-high .375 with five RBIs. The two-time All-PL honoree started the season with a critical two-RBI single in the fifth inning to secure a 3-0 win over the Roadrunners. She then went 2-for-3 against Duke, launching a sixth-inning solo blast in the 2-1 victory, and finished 3-for-4 with a double, walk, two RIs and two runs scored against Buffalo.
Besides reaching the 700 career strikeout milestone, Ricard tied the Patriot League record in all-time shutouts at 31 thanks to impressive performances against Maryland and CSUB. On Friday, the Littleton, Massachusetts, native totaled 13 strikeouts against just one hit allowed for her second 3-0 win of the event. Later in the day, she limited Duke to three hits with seven strikeouts.
BU will next compete at the Carolina Classic hosted by the Gamecocks in Columbia, Sout Carolina, on Feb. 13-15.
