HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kline led off the game with a single, took second on Deppiesse's walk and scored on Naivar's RBI single to left to give BU the lead for good.
- Both Deppiesse and Naivar took advantage of a wild pitch and throwing error from the catcher to enter the bottom of the first ahead, 3-0.
- The Leopards quickly pulled within one on a single, RBI triple and RBI single against Ricard but were unable to get any closer, as Nell recorded two strikeouts and a fly out to center to keep the 3-2 lead.
- BU responded in the second with five runs off three hits, including Doherty's three-run homer to right and Coyle's two-run blast to left.
- The Terriers added three more in the third on RBI hits from Deppiesse (double) and Naivar (single) along with an RBI sac fly from Doherty.
- Lafayette tried to mount another rally during the bottom half with an RBI double and three-run homer against Nell, but she bounced back with two strikeouts and a fly out to right for the 11-6 advantage.
- Following a scoreless fourth, Deppiesse delivered a two-run homer, and the Terriers added one more run with the help of two walks and a fielding error.
- With two Leopards in scoring position via walks and a two-out wild pitch, Ricard returned to the circle and earned a fly out to center to end the contest.
- Doherty's 33 home runs surpassed Chiya Louie's 32 homers set between 2004-07 for the program record.
- Doherty also surpassed Colgate's Natalie Rawson ('05) for sole possession of No. 2 in the Patriot League record book with the Raiders' Dorothy Donaldson ('05) owning the conference record at 39 total.
- Doherty's 13 homers tied her 13 earned last season for No. 2 in the BU record book, one shy of Chiya Louie's single-season record set in 2007. Colgate's Melissa Rawson ('05) owns the PL record with 16 earned in 2003.
- With 23 regular season games remaining, Doherty now owns 44 RBIs, two shy of her personal best set last season. Lehigh's Kim Miller sits atop the PL rankings at 56 total set in 1995, one ahead of BU record holder, Kayla Roncin ('24).
- The Terriers previously had three homers in a single game this season at Charlotte.
- Deppiesse moved into sole possession of second on the team at four homers, while Coyle moved into third at three total.
- Nell had earned a combined 10 strikeouts over five scoreless innings of work in relief from Saturday to Sunday against Lafayette before the Leopards scored four in the third inning.
