BOSTON – Riding a 16-game win streak, the defending Patriot League champion Boston University softball team will start off the nine-game homestand by facing defending Big East champion UConn Wednesday with first pitch slated for 3 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS

BU is a perfect 8-0 at home after earning a pair of wins against Quinnipiac, Brown, UMass Lowell and most recently Stonehill with six contests finishing in shutout fashion.
The Terriers started conference play over the weekend with a sweep at Lafayette by a combined score of 35-13.
Batting .360 on the year, junior Kylie Doherty recorded three homers to set a new program record for career homers at 33 total. She also owns a team-high 44 RBIs, 11 shy of tying the Terriers' single-season record.
Senior Brooke Deppiesse is batting a team-high .391 with 33 runs scored alongside 27 RBIs, two triples, four doubles and four homers.
Both freshman Irys Kline (.389) and junior Kyomi Apalit (.372) are batting over .350 with junior Livia Christopher (.328) and senior Megan Coyle (.324) the next closest.
Senior Kasey Ricard (15-5, 3.47 ERA), senior Haley Ganino (6-1, 3.21 ERA) and sophomore Danika Nell (2-3, 6.92 ERA) all earned at least one victory in the circle last week.
Ricard leads the pitching staff with 121 strikeouts in 121.0 innings of work with eight shutouts and a save.
BU is batting .333 and holding opponents to .266 with a 26-20 advantage in homer and 140-73 lead in walks.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

UConn enters the matchup with a 6-7 record in true road games and 1-14 mark in neutral contests. The Huskies went 2-1 at St. John's and 1-2 at Seton Hall to start conference play following notable wins at Liberty and Florida Gulf Coast.
Cat Petteys is batting a team-high .354 with seven doubles, eight homers, 22 RBIs and 25 runs scored, while Savannah Ring is hitting .303 with five doubles.
Both Kaitlyn Breslin (.263) and Kaitlyn Kibling (.262) own four homers apiece with Breslin leading UConn at 23 RBIs.
Caprice Bohmer (3-4, 4.46 ERA) owns 67 strikeouts in 64.1 innings of work in the circle, while Jessica Walter (3-8, 4.25 ERA) has totaled 37 strikeouts in 61.0 innings.
Overall, UConn is batting .267 and holding team to .286 with a slight 38-36 lead in stolen bases, while opponents own a 72-66 advantage in extra-base hits.

SERIES HISTORY

BU leads the all-time series, 15-8, having won the last eight meetings.
In 2024, the Terriers swept a doubleheader at UConn, pulling out a 1-0 (8) victory and 6-3 win.
BU last hosted the Huskies in 2023 and prevailed in a pitcher's duel, 1-0, thanks to a solo homer in the fourth inning.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Terriers will resume conference play by hosting Lehigh in a three-game series.
Both Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single contest will start at 12 p.m.
Last year, BU went 2-2 against the Mountain Hawks with a 1-0 win in the opening round of the PL tournament at Army West Point following a 1-2 road mark.
In 2024, the Terriers went 4-0 at home, highlighted by a 1-0 eight-inning victory in the PL title game.
