Women’s Tennis Recruiting Class Ranked Third-Best Mid-Major by TRN

BOSTON – The Boston University women's tennis team was recognized as the third-best mid-major recruiting class for 2026, according to TennisRecruiting.net. The two incoming freshmen, Gabriella Sadowski and Catherine Shen, represent the top recruiting class in the Patriot League.
The TRN mid-major rankings include colleges and universities outside of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and the Ivy League. Head coach Lesley Sheehan's recruiting classes have been recognized in the poll 17 times, with this year's class being the highest ranked since 2008 when BU was No. 2.
Gabriella Sadowski
Sadowski is a five-star recruit out of Macomb, Michigan, with a UTR of 9.93. As of writing, she ranks at No. 14 nationally and is the No. 1 recruit out of the Great Lakes region and Michigan. She owns 19 wins against rated opponents, including an 8-0 record against fellow five-star recruits according to TRN.
Catherine Shen
Shen joins BU from her native Houston, Texas, and boasts an 8.89 UTR. Her most recent recruit ranking came in 2025 at No. 57. She also has an ITF WTN ranking of 19.8. Her TRN record shows five wins, including two against five-star recruits.
