In two seasons as the quarterback of the Terrier football
team, Jim Jensen led Boston University to the top of the Yankee
Conference and a 17-3-1 record.
Jensen became the top signal caller in 1979 as a junior and
led the Terriers to an 8-1-1 record overall and a 4-0-1 mark
in the Yankee Conference, good enough for a share of the conference
championship. Completing 89-of-185 passes for 1,085 yards
and six touchdowns, Jensen also led the team in total offense
(1352 yards). He was named All-ECAC and second team All-Conference.
His senior year, Jensen personally clinched the Yankee Conference
title. Against Connecticut, Jensen scored the winning touchdown
with 12 seconds remaining to give Boston University a 28-24
win and a perfect 5-0 conference record. While the team compiled
a 9-2 mark, Jensen finished the season with 119 completions
in 215 attempts for 1,544 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also
led the team in total yards for the second year in a row with
1,798.
Selected to play in the Senior Bowl, Jensen received the
Harry Agganis Award as the Terriers' MVP. He also was named
the Offensive Player of the Year in the Yankee Conference
as well as All-Conference, All-East, and All-New England.
His collegiate career was capped off when he was selected
by the Miami Dolphins in the 11th round of the 1981 draft.
