A native of Malden, Dick Rodenhiser played center for two
season for the Terriers under coach Harry Cleverly.
As a freshman, he helped the varsity to a 15-3-1 record and
was chosen All-New England, Most Outstanding Forward and Rookie
of the Year in New England.
As a sophomore, Rodenhiser led the Terriers in scoring with
29 goals and 20 assists and helped Boston University to the
NCAA Tournament. The Terriers finished with a 14-7-1 record
in 1952-53. Rodenhiser received All-New England honors and
was voted the Most Outstanding Forward for the second straight
year. He was also the team's only All-American.
The captain-elect for the 1953-54 Terrier squad, Rodenhiser
chose to play for the U.S. National hockey team. In 1956,
he was a member of the Olympic team that won a silver medal
at Cortina, Italy. In 1960, Rodenhiser won a gold medal as
a member of the 1960 Olympic team at Squaw Valley.
