Steve Walker
Sport: Soccer
Year Graduated: 1994
Year Inducted: 1999

"Stevie Walker epitomizes all that is great about college athletics," said Terrier varsity soccer coach Neil Roberts.

These are not just idle words for there is strong evidence to support the veteran coach's laudatory comments.
On the pitch, he was a strong ballwinning back who also had the ability to move forward to play offense. Case in point are the 32 points he scored which ranks 31st on the school's all-time list.

He played in 78 games, starting 77 of them, and, during his four-year career, the team compiled and overall record of 54-21-9. In conference play, they were 24-1-1 as they won the North Atlantic title all four years. The team advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times, and, in two of those years, they won their first-round games.

In the classroom, he excelled in the University's physical therapy program, and today is a very successful therapist in Scotland.
His performances earned him All-America honors both for his athletic and academic accomplishments.

As an athlete, Steve was a one of the nation's "Elite Eleven Defenders" as selected by Soccer News, was All-New England, and All-Conference as well as the teams MVP, and All-America as a senior. As a student his final year, he was the conference's top male student-athlete in soccer, the team's student-athlete award winner, as well as GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America.

"You could always depend that Stevie would perform at the highest level no matter what he did," said Roberts. "He was very disciplined and was always focused on what he had to do both on and off the field."

"He was a quality player, but more importantly, he was and still is a quality person."
