GAME 1 - Sept. 4, 1998

BOSTON - Jessica Alcorta had one goal and one assist to lead 20th-ranked Boston University to a 3-1 victory over visiting University of California. It was the Terriers' fourth straight season-opening victory. Samantha Stuart got the Terriers on the board just 5:25 into the contest with a blast from just inside the top of the circle. Alcorta and Jaclyn Mele assisted on the goal. In the second half, sophomore Kate Cusick gave the Terriers a two-goal lead, converting off an assists from senior tri-captain Candice Lilienfeld. Alcorta made it 3-0 with an unassisted goal from the right side with 9:10 remaining. California averted the shutout with just seven seconds remaining in regulation.

GAME 2 - Sept. 12, 1998

PRINCETON, NJ - Kristy Hale scored three goals to lead Princeton to a 5-1 victory over Boston University. The Tigers led 2-0 at halftime, and increased their lead to 4-0 before B.U.'s Danielle DeCoste tallied her first goal of the season with 18:56 remaining. Noreen Flanagan had 10 saves in net, her 10th career double figure save output.

GAME 3 - Sept. 16, 1998

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Anne Marie Ambros scored the game-winning goal with 6:09 left in overtime to lead Boston College to a 2-1 overtime victory over Boston University. B.U. senior tri-captain Candace Lilienfeld forced overtime with an unassisted goal, her first of the season, with 6:42 left in regulation. Despite the loss, the Terriers outshot the Eagles, 16-11. Noreen Flanagan stopped five shots in net for B.U.

GAME 4 - Sept. 18, 1998

DURHAM, NH - UNH's Carey Bialobrzski scored the game-winning goal with 16:51 remaining in the game to lead the Wildcats past Boston University. B.U. had a chance to tie the game with 6:48 left, but Jaclyn Mele's penalty stroke, but UNH goal keeper Amy Agulay knocked the ball wide of the cage. Kate Cusick scored the Terriers' lone goal, a first half penalty stroke tally. It was the Wildcats' first win over the Terriers since the 1992 season.

GAME 5 - Sept. 20, 1998

Vermont (3-3, 0-1) 0 1 - 1

BURLINGTON, VT - Danielle DeCoste scored a career-high three goals and added one assist to lead Boston University to a 6-1 victory over America East rival Vermont. The win snapped a Terrier three-game losing streak. It was also B.U.'s ninth consecutive victory over Vermont. Kate Cusick added one goal and three assists for the Terriers.

GAME 6 - Sept. 25, 1998

Hofstra (2-6, 0-2) 1 1 - 2

HEMPSTEAD, NY - Danielle DeCoste and Tina McDavitt each scored two goals and added two assists leading Boston University to a 6-1 victory over America East rival Hofstra. It was the Terriers' fourth straight win over the Flying Dutchwomen. After spotting Hofstra a one-goal lead, the Terriers scored six times over a 30:52 span. Kate Cusick added two goals and Jessica Alcorta two assists for the Terriers.

GAME 7 - Sept. 27, 1998

Drexel (4-5, 0-2) 0 1 - 1

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Boston University ended its six-game road swing with a 3-1 victory over America East rival Drexel. It was the Terriers' eighth win in eight meetings with the Dragons. B.U. scored three times in the first half, including the Felicia Cappabianca's first collegiate goal with 4:50 remaining. Jessica Alcorta added one goal and one assist, her second straight multiple-point game on the season.

GAME 8 - Sept. 30, 1998

BOSTON - Tina McDavitt scored two goals to lead Boston University to a 3-1 victory over visiting Harvard at Nickerson Field. It was B.U.'s fourth straight victory on the season. The win also marked head coach Sally Starr's 200th career victory at Boston University. In her 18th season at B.U., Starr has a 200-122-21 record. Senior Candice Lilienfeld broke a 1-1 tie with 19:40 remaining with an unassisted goal. After recovering a loose ball, Lilienfeld lifted the ball into the top left corner of the cage for the eventual game-winning tally. McDavitt added the insurance goal with 1:36 left.

GAME 9 - Oct. 3, 1998

#1 Old Dominion (9-1) 6 2 - 8

BOSTON - Marina DiGiacomo scored three goals and had two assists and Kim Miller added four assists to lead the top-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team to an 8-0 victory over Boston University at Nickerson Field. The eight goals were the most allowed by a B.U. team in its 22-year history. ODU took a 6-0 lead at halftime, scoring four times in a 6:33 span. Six different ODU players tallied goals in the first stanza.

AMHERST, MA - Samantha Stuart scored a career-high two goals, both coming off penalty corners, to lead the Terriers to a 3-0 victory over #19 Massachusetts. Jessica Alcorta and Jaclyn Mele each contributed two assists, while Kate Cusick added a penalty stroke goal with 5:51 remaining in the contesst. Noreen Flanagan stopped seven shots for her 16th career shutout.

BOSTON - Candice Lilienfeld scored two goals and Kate Cusick added one on a penalty stroke to lead Boston University to a 3-0 victory over 16th-ranked Maine. Lilienfeld got the Terriers on the board at the 21:20 mark in the first half with an unassisted goal, and added her second just 31 seconds into the second stanza off an assist from Samantha Stuart. Cusick finished off the scoring with 9:59 remaining with a penalty stroke goal, her second in the last two games. Senior goalkeeper Noreen Flanagan made three saves for her second straight shutout, and 17th in her career.

BOSTON - Candice Lilienfeld scored two goals for the second straight game to lead Boston University to a 4-0 victory over visiting Richmond. The contest was scoreless for just over 60 minutes until the Terriers (8-4) scored four times in the final 9:49. It was B.U.'s third straight shutout on the season. The Terriers, who have won seven of their last eight games, have not allowed a goal in their last 217:32. Senior goalkeeper Noreen Flanagan made one save for her 18th career shutout. Flanagan earned America East Player of the Week accolades for the week ending October 11.

COLLEGE PARK, MD - Kate Cusick's goal, her second of the game, with 2:21 remaining lifted Boston University to a 3-2 victory over #19 American at Astroturf Field in College Park, MD. It was the Terriers' fourth straight victory. After holding opponents scoreless for 257:23, senior Noreen Flanagan finally allowed a game with 30:09 left in the contest.

GAME 14 - Oct. 18, 1998

COLLEGE PARK, MD - Carla Tagliente's goal with 5:24 left in the first sudden-death overtime lifted #7 Maryland to a 5-4 victory over Boston University. Danielle DeCoste's ninth goal of the season with 3:06 remaining in regulation forced overtime. Noreen Flanagan made 10 saves in net for B.U.

GAME 15 - Oct. 21, 1998

PROVIDENCE, RI - Erica Hebert scored three goals, including the game winner at the 2:00 mark in sudden death overtime to lift Providence to a 3-2 victory over #15 Boston University. The Terriers led 2-1 at halftime, as Tina McDavitt and Candice Lilienfeld both tallied goals. However, Hebert's second goal with 25:21 remaining in regulation forced overtime.

GAME 16 - Oct. 25, 1998

#12 Northeastern (10-6, 5-1) 1 2 - 3

BOSTON - Hilary McHugh scored two goals to lead #12 Northeastern to a 3-0 victory over Boston University at Nickerson Field. It was the Huskies' fourth straight victory over the Terriers. B.U. outshot Northeastern, 13-9, and had a 17-4 advantage in penalty corners.

GAME 17 - Oct. 28, 1998

BOSTON - Tina McDavitt scored two goals and added one assist and Jessica Alcorta contributed a career-high three assists to lead #16 Boston University to a 4-1 upset victory over No. 3 Connecticut at Nickerson Field. Connecticut drew first blood just 4:06 into the contest, however B.U. scored two times in the last 10:06 of the half to take the lead, including a goal by McDavitt with 3:01 left. B.U. added to its lead when senior Samantha Stuart converted off a penalty corner with 22:26 left, before McDavitt's unassisted tally with 16:23 remaining sealed the victory.

GAME 18 - Oct. 30, 1998

#11 Delaware (15-3, 5-1) 1 0 - 1

BOSTON - Tina McDavitt scored two first-half goals in a 14:36 span to lead #16 Boston University to a 3-1 victory over #11 Delaware in an America East matchup at Nickerson Field. It was B.U.'s second victory over a ranked opponent. The victory also clinched a spot for the Terriers in the America East Tournament for the ninth consecutive season. Felicia Cappabianca added an insurance goal with 10:59 remaining in the contest. Jessica Alcorta and Jaclyn Mele each added two assists for the Terriers.

GAME 19 - Nov. 1, 1998

Towson (6-14, 1-7) 0 0 - 0

BOSTON - Tina McDavitt scored two goals for the third consecutive game to lead #16 Boston University to a 4-0 victory over Towson in the America East field hockey regular-season finale at Nickerson Field. B.U. scored twice in each half to post its third straight win of the season. Jessica Alcorta added three assists for the Terriers, who outshot the Tigers, 26-1.

GAME 20 - Nov. 6, 1998 - America East Championships

New Hampshire (13-6) 0 3 - 3

HEMPSTEAD, NY - Kristen Iarrusso's goal with 7:52 remaining capped a three-goal comeback as second-seeded New Hampshire defeated third-seeded Boston University, 3-2, in the semifinals of the America East Championships at Hofstra Stadium. After a scoreless first period, B.U.'s Danielle DeCoste converted off a feed from Tina McDavitt just 1:17 into the half. Almost eight minutes later, McDavitt tallied her 12th goal of the season off a penalty corner. It was the fourth straight game McDavitt scored at least one goal. However, UNH scored three times in a 17:42 span to claim a spot in the finals against Northeastern, 2-1 winners over Delaware in the other semifinal. B.U. outshot the Wildcats, 28-12, in the contest. Noreen Flanagan made four saves for the Terriers. In the finals, the Wildcats defeated Northeastern, 4-3, in overtime to earn the automatic berth to the NCAA Championships. B.U.'s Candice Lilienfeld and Jessica Alcorta were selected to the All-Championship Team.
