Kathryn Yates is the first-ever director of analytics for the Boston University men's ice hockey program.

Yates completed her master's degree in mechanical engineering earlier this year from BU's College of Engineering and started helping out the men's ice hockey coaches in an analytics capacity while working at Agganis Arena as a graduate student. She augments the staff's evaluation of team and individual player performance by using advanced statistics and video.

Originally from Harrison, New York, Yates graduated magna cum laude from Brown in 2014 with departmental honors in biology (physiology/biotechnology concentration). She did her undergrad thesis on the biomechanics of a field hockey shot using motion-capture videography.
