BOSTON Boston University sophomore forward Jane Rogers (Watertown, MA/Watertown HS) has been named America East Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 10.
Rogers led Boston University's (11-2, 6-0 America East) offensive attack in a 3-0 week with three goals and one assist.
She scored her first career hat trick in an 5-0 conference win over Hofstra on Sunday, October 10. Rogers, a transfer from Northeastern University, was honored by the conference earlier this season by being named America East Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 6 and its Player of the Week last week.
Through 13 games, Rogers is tied for first place in the America East conference in scoring (25 points) and goals scored (10). She is averaging 0.77 goals per game and 1.92 points per game.
She has registered three mulit-goal games this season (9/29 vs. Vermont) and (10/3 vs. Richmond), and (10/10 vs. Hofstra).
The Terriers, currently ranked No. 13 in the STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, have reached 11 wins faster than any previous B.U. field hockey team.
A former standout field hockey player at Watertown H.S., Rogers led Watertown to the 1997 Division II state title and was named 1997 Boston Globe All-Scholastic Player of the Year. Her 129 career goals at Watertown rank her first in the all-time record books for the state of Massachusetts.
Rogers and the rest of the Terriers will host America East foe New Hampshire on Wednesday, October 13 at 7 p.m.
