BOSTON – The Boston University field hockey program and first-year head coach Sarah Shute have announced the 2026 schedule as the Terriers look to defend their Patriot League crown.
The 49th varsity season of BU field hockey will kick off on Friday, Aug. 28, when the Terriers host Merrimack at 4 p.m. in the first of seven home games. The first road game of the season will be two days later when the Terriers head to Providence.
BU will host two games in September, as Dartmouth makes the trip to New Balance Field on Sept. 6 before a visit from Maine on Sept. 13.
The first of three Patriot League home games will take place Oct. 3 against Lehigh and the Terriers will also host Holy Cross (Oct. 9) and Colgate (Oct. 23) in conference play. BU's Patriot League opener will take place on Sept. 26 at Bucknell and the team will also visit American on Oct. 16 before closing the regular season on Oct. 30 at Lafayette in a rematch of last season's PL title game.
BU's final home game of the regular season will take place on Oct. 25 in a crosstown matchup with Northeastern.
The rest of the non-conference road schedule is highlighted by visits to two other programs who joined BU in last year's NCAA Tournament, as the Terriers will visit defending America East champion New Hampshire on Sept. 20 and make a short trip to NCAA semifinalist Harvard on Oct. 18. BU will also hit the road to face Brown (Sept. 11), Bryant (Sept. 18) and Boston College (Oct. 11).
The Terriers will also host preseason scrimmages against UConn (Aug. 14) and Stonehill (Aug. 17) before visiting Quinnipiac on Aug. 20 for a final preseason tune-up.
The four-team Patriot League Championship is scheduled for Nov. 5 & 7 and will take place at the top seed.
