HOW IT HAPPENED
- O'Brien got the scoring started just 36 seconds into the game, as freshman Molly Driscoll inserted the ball off a corner to stopper Maggie Driscoll, who set up the Patriot League's leading point scorer for her 11th goal of the season.
- O'Brien had two chances to double the lead in the first quarter as she was set up off a pass from Molly Driscoll with the goaltender out of position, but she couldn't finish the job with four minutes left to play in the first.
- She also had a backhanded shot that went skyward with 30 seconds remaining.
- Molly Driscoll had a chance to score just 4:54 into the second quarter, turning on a pass from her sister, but the attempt went high and wide.
- Then junior Nicole Lauro had a backhanded shot from just inside the circle that hit the post with 9:16 to play in the second.
- With 1:03 remaining in the second, the Raiders earned their first corner of the game, and after an Ortyl save and a defensive save by senior Celia Nocivelli, Colgate was able punch home a goal to make it 1-1.
- 8:23 into the third quarter, the Raiders had a dangerous chance swatted away by Ortyl to keep it level.
- Neither team could find the back of the cage in the third, and the squads entered the final quarter of play knotted at 1-1.
- The Raiders dominated play in the final quarter and broke through with a goal in the 56th minute to take a 2-1 lead.
- BU ramped the pressure back up and forced four penalty corners before finally getting the equalizer on the fourth corner.
- O'Brien received a short corner from Molly Driscoll and slid the ball over to Maggie Driscoll, who fired home the equalizer with 3:27 to play.
- BU had two more corners in regulation but couldn't convert before overtime began.
- Just 45 seconds into overtime, the Terriers had an opportunity as senior Megan Wetzel twirled around to guide pass from senior Martu Coulo into the cage, and O'Brien was there to ensure the goal and win the game.
- BU had more shot attempts by a 14-11 margin, but allowed eight shots on goal compared to the Terriers' seven.
- O'Brien had a five-point game, her fourth time this season recording at least five points.
- She is up to 12 goals and 31 points this season.
- The Terriers had 12 corners compared to Colgate's three. That number is the second-most this season for BU.
- BU has now qualified for the Patriot League tournament 11 times.
- The Terriers are the fourth seed in the 2025 Patriot League Tournament and will take on No. 1-seeded American on Thursday, Nov. 6 in Washington, D.C.
- The initial push back is set for 11 a.m.
