Boston, MA (Nov. 15) - Five Boston University field hockey players earned 1999 Astroturf/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Regional All-America honors.
Senior midfielder Jessica Alcorta (Demarest, NJ), the 1999 America East Player of the Year, was named to the All-Northeast Region First Team for the second consecutive year. She will also represent the North in the 1999 NFHCA Division I North/South Senior All-Star Game.
Alcorta finished second in the conference with 10 assists in 1999, and closed out her career in fourth place on the University's All-time assists list (38), and 14th on the Terriers' career scoring list (50).
Joining Alcorta as Northeast Region First-Team selections are senior midfielder Tina McDavitt (Walpole, MA) and junior midfielder Robyn Kenney (Whitehouse Station, NJ).
McDavitt, a team co-captain and All-America East First Team selection, finished second on the team and seventh in the conference in scoring (9-11-29). She will graduate eigthth on the University's career scoring list (25-19-69).
Kenney also earned All-America East First Team honors, after finishing with three goals and four assists, while anchoring a Terrier defense which allowed just 1.54 goals per game.
In addition to the three First Team selections, the Terriers landed two players on the All-Northeast Region Second Team. Sophomore forward Jane Rogers (Watertown, MA), the 1999 America East Rookie of the Year, led the team and was fourth in the conference in scoring in scoring (14-6-34).
Senior forward Danielle DeCoste (Fall River, MA) rounds out the Terrier All-Northeast selections, as her 28 points earned her a spot on the second team. DeCoste finished the season fifth in the conference in scoring, and finishes her career seventh in team history with 70 points.
The five All-Northeast selections helped lead Boston University to a 17-6 final record, tying the highest win total in program history. The Terriers were a perfect 8-0-0 in the conference on their way to winning the America East regular-season and tournament titles and earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
The Terriers bowed to UMass-Amherst, 2-1 (OT), in the NCAA first round at Storrs, CT on Saturday, November 13.
