BOSTON- A total of five Boston University field hockey players earned America East All-Conference honors in a vote of the league's coaches. Junior Jane Rogers (Watertown, MA) garnered her second-consecutive First Team All-Conference accolade, while senior Felicia Cappabianca (North Caldwell, NJ), along with junior goalkeeper Susan Harrington (Tuftonboro, NH) were each Second Team selections for the second straight year. Freshmen Meredith Long (Ocean City, NJ) and Kara Rossi (North Salem, NY) were each named to the All-Rookie Team.
Rogers, who has earned All-Conference honors in each of her three years in America East, has nine goals and three assists for 21 points. She is tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals, and has converted on each of her two penalty stroke opportunities. Her 41 shots on goal also ties her for the team lead. She is currently fifth on the Terriers all-time scoring list with 31 goals and 21 assists for 83 points.
Cappabianca, a Second Team All-Conference selection, is second on the team in scoring with six goals and four assists for 16 points. She is currently tied for first place on the Terriers' all-time games-played list with 85 games, and will move into sole possession of first place when she takes the field against Delaware in the semifinal round of the America East Championship on Friday, Nov. 2.
Harrington was voted as the Second Team goalkeeper for the second straight year. She earned the Second Team nod last year after posting a goals against average of 1.52 and a save percentage of .788. This year she has a goals against average of 2.34 and a save percentage of .749 heading into the America East Championship.
Long was named the America East Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 30, after tallying two goals and one assist, and helping the Terriers to a 3-0 conference record during the week. Rossi played in every game for the Terriers in her freshman season. She was a constant in the Terriers defensive scheme, and made a number of defensive saves that prevented sure goals by the opposition.
