Moran Leads Saint Joseph's Past Terriers

BOSTON - Senior forward Susan Moran scored a game-high 34 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to lead Saint Joseph's to a 59-47 victory over host Boston University tonight at Case Gymnasium.
B.U. was within reach until midway through the second half when the Hawks (7-2) went on a 14-0 run, opening up a 51-37 lead with eight minutes remaining in the game.
The run was sparked by a five-point play with 9:31 to go. Colleen McGahan hit a three-pointer as Terrier freshman Adrienne Norris (Delafield, WI) fouled Moran and put her on the line where she hit both free throws. On the night, the Hawks were 17-of-19 from the free throw line, with Moran hitting 12 of her 13 chances.
The two teams traded leads through the first half and the Hawks led by six, 29-23 at the break. Neither team found a shooting rhythm, as the Terriers hit just 20.8 percent from the floor. The Hawks shot 34.5 percent, lead by Moran's 6-for-12, 17-point first half effort.
Senior guard Dia Dufault (Malone, NY) hit two three-pointers to bring the Terriers to within one at 34-33 five minutes into the second half, but the Hawks answered, outscoring the Terriers, 24-11, in the remaining fifteen minutes of the game.
Dufault led the Terriers with 13 points and also had 8 rebounds. Sophomore forward Marisa Moseley (Longmeadow, MA) had a team-high 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive end.
The Hawks held Katie Terhune (Warren Hills, NJ) to just five points on 2-for-11 shooting from the floor. Terhune entered the game averaging a team-high 21 points per game.
The Terriers out-rebounded the Hawks, 45-27, but committed 31 turnovers.
The Terriers (6-3) were without the services of starting point guard Alison Argentieri (Hornell, NY), the Terriers second-leading scorer, who suffered a scratched cornea during practice but is expected to be available in then next game against Central Connecticut on Saturday, Dec. 29th.
