McClay Earns Second Consecutive Rookie Of The Week Award
November 4, 2002 | Field Hockey
BOSTON - Boston University midfielder Colleen McClay (Mahopac, N. Y.) earned the America East Conference's Rookie of the Week award for the second straight week on Nov. 4. She won the award on Oct. 28 after tallying her first career point and giving her usual stellar performance in the Terriers' midfield.
The Terriers were ranked 17th in last week's STX/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll. The team dropped its last two regular season games last week, 1-0 to No. 18 Harvard on Oct. 30, and 2-1 to No. 7 Northeastern on Nov. 2.
McClay continued her strong overall play at the midfield position. She started each of the Terriers' 20 regular-season games this season.
Last week, McClay became the third freshman to garner America East Rookie of the Week honors this season. Forward Natalie DiSabato (New Albany, Ohio) and forward Caitlyn Cassara (North Caldwell, N.J.) each won the award earlier in the year. McClay is the first Terrier freshman this season to win back-to-back awards.
Boston University (11-9) awaits a possible NCAA Tournament bid. An ECAC Championship appearance is also a possibility for the Terriers, who missed making the America East Championship for the first time in 13 years.
