Terriers Drop Road Game At Marist, 72-56

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Maureen Magarity scored a game-high 22 points and tied a game-high with seven rebounds to lead Marist College to a 72-56 victory over the Terrier women's basketball team on Saturday night in front of 1,018 at the McCann Athletic Center.
Marist improved to 5-4 on the season and 3-0 against opponents from the America East Conference. The Red Foxes defeated Hartford and New Hampshire earlier this season.
Junior forward Marisa Moseley (Springfield, MA) and junior guard Katie Terhune (Port Murray, NJ) each scored 13 points for the Terriers, who fall to 2-6 on the season.
The Red Foxes outscored the Terriers, 14-3, during the final 4:29 of the first half to take a 32-23 lead into the intermission. Magarity and Stephanie DelPreore each had eight first-half points.
The Red Foxes did not allow a second-half field goal until senior guard Alison Argentieri (Hornell, NY) hit a three-pointer with 13:43 remaining. At that point the Terriers trailed, 40-28, and could not cut the lead to single digits for the remainder of the game.
Megan Vetter joined Magarity in double-figure scoring with 12 points off the bench. For the game, the Marist bench outscored the B.U. bench, 25-8.
Moseley had the best all-around game for the Terriers. In addition to her 13 points, Moseley tied a career-high with five steals, and had five rebounds, four blocked shots, and two assists.
Terhune's 13 points moved her into eighth-place on the B.U.'s career scoring list with 1,080 points. Terhune passed Annemarie Olson ('94), who totaled 1,078 points in her career.
Argentieri added 11 points, shooting 3-for-6 from three-point range.
The Red Foxes outrebounded the Terriers, 45-27, holding a 22-9 rebounding advantage in the second half.
The Terriers play the second of four-straight road games when they take on the University of South Florida on Monday, Dec. 30, at 7:00 p.m. in Tampa, Fl.
