Barrett, Byrne Earn National Academic All-America Honors

BOSTON - Boston University seniors Brooke Barrett (Bel Air, MD) and Molly Byrne (Lake Placid, NY) were both named to the IWLCA National Academic All-America Squad, as announced by the organization on June 12. The award recognizes those players who achieve excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
Barrett, who graduated in May with a degree in early childhood education, was named an IWLCA Academic All-American for the second straight year. The goalkeeper finished the 2002 season with a .500 save percentage and a 9.84 goals against average. She wrapped up her career as the Terriers' all-time leader in saves (631) and career goals against average (7.41). She also posted the three highest season goals against averages in program history.
Byrne graduated in May with a degree in Economics and International Relations. In 2002, she started all 19 games, tallying 13 goals and seven assists in the Terriers' midfield.
Boston University finished the season with an 8-11 overall record, and capped its season with an 11-5 victory over New Hampshire in the America East Championship.
