GAME NOTES: Terriers Aim For AE Regular Season Title

WHO: Boston University Terriers (10-4, 3-0 America East) vs. University of Vermont Catamounts (3-8, 1-2), University of New Hampshire Wildcats (3-10, 3-0) WHEN: BU-UVM Friday, April 25, at 4:00 p.m., BU-UNH Sunday, April 27, at 1:00 p.m. WHERE: Burlington, Vt., and Durham, N.H. ON DECK: America East Women's Lacrosse Championship, Thursday, May 1, and Saturday, May 3. All games played at highest seed. Championship winner receives automatic bid to NCAA Tournament.
TERRIERS VS. CATAMOUNTS Boston University will look for its program-record ninth straight victory when its takes on the University of Vermont in Burlington. The Terriers lead the all-time series, 8-3, and have won the last six meetings. A win would secure one of the top two seeds in the AE Tournament.
TERRIERS VS. WILDCATS Should B.U. defeat Vermont and UNH defeat Stony Brook on Friday, the two teams will battle for the America East Regular Season title on Sunday in Durham. The victor earns the right to host the AE Tournament on May 1-3. UNH won the regular season crown last season by defeating B.U., 13-9, on April 17, but fell to the Terriers, 11-5, in the AE Championship game on May 4. New Hampshire leads the all-time series, 9-6, but B.U. has won six of the last seven meetings.
LAST TIME OUT: B.U. 7, #11 SYRACUSE 6 Attacker Caroline Kelleher celebrated Senior Day with three goals to lead the Boston University women's lacrosse team to its first-ever victory over Syracuse, as the Terriers upset the 11th-ranked Orangewomen, 7-6, at Nickerson Field on Sunday, April 20.
TERRIERS AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS STATISTICALLY Alyssa Trudel leads America East and ranks second in the nation in assists, averaging 2.14 apg. Trudel also leads the league and is sixth in the nation in scoring, averaging 4.14 ppg. Anne Sheridan leads America East and is ninth in the nation in goals against average (7.50 GAA) and is 11th in the nation in save percentage (.563). As a team, the Terriers are first in the nation in draw controls (13.86 dcpg), second in scoring offense (12.79) and scoring margin (6.21), third in scoring defense (6.571), and 16th in winning percentage (.714).
IRONWOMEN Seven Terriers have started all 14 games in 2003. They include freshmen attackers Lindsay Lewis and Mary Beth Miller, junior midfielder Sasha Lang, sophomore midfielder Alyssa Trudel, freshman defender Kaitlyn Cuneo, and sophomore goalkeeper Anne Sheridan. Senior midfielder Briana Smith has started and played in 13 games, missing the March 26 game against Yale with a concussion.
RECORDS SET IN 2003 Through 14 games, Alyssa Trudel has already set two new program records. Trudel set a program single-season record for assists with 30 and a record for draw controls in a season with 41. Anne Sheridan tied a single-game record for saves with 20 against Loyola. As a team, B.U. has tied a program record for consecutive wins with eight.
IN THE POLLS Boston University received votes in the IWLCA Poll for the first time this season last week. The Terriers also rank 18th in the Warrior/Inside Lacrosse Power Poll and rank 21st in the Laxpower.com Poll.
