Trudel Honored At Terrier Lacrosse Banquet

BOSTON - Following a record-breaking season, America East Player of the Year Alyssa Trudel (Shoreham, VT) was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2003 Terrier women's lacrosse team at the annual post-season banquet on Monday, May 12.
Trudel, a sophomore midfielder, scored 44 goals and tallied 42 assists while leading the Terriers (14-5, 5-0) to the America East Championship and a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Trudel's 42 assists, 86 points, and 50 draw controls were all single-season program records. In the national statistics, Trudel completed the season ranked third in the nation in assists (2.21 apg), fourth in scoring (4.53 ppg), and 20th in draw controls (2.63 dcpg).
After playing an attacking position in her freshman season, Trudel was moved into the midfield as a sophomore where she blossomed as a defender. She led the team in caused turnovers (39) and ground balls (44).
With 36 games under her belt, Trudel ranks second in the Terrier record book in career assists with 62, seventh in career scoring with 139 points, and ninth in goals with 77.
Junior midfielder Kylie Wagenet (Ithaca, NY) was named for the Most Improved Player following a breakout season in 2003. After appearing in 11 games in her first two seasons, Wagenet played in all 19 games in 2003, earning 16 starts, while contributing 27 goals and eight assists for 35 points. Wagenet was fourth on the team in scoring, while contributing 13 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
Senior attacker Tiffany Mullan (Phoenix, MD) was presented with the Unsung Hero award. One of four co-captains, Mullan appeared in a career-high 12 games, earning four starts, while contributing four goals and two assists.
Battling a foot injury for half of her senior season, defender Meghan Murphy (Annapolis, MD) received the Coaches Award for her contributions on and off the field. Murphy started the first nine games of the season before suffering the injury. She recovered for the final two games of the season, including the NCAA Tournament game against Dartmouth. For her career, Murphy appeared in 59 games, contributing 36 caused turnovers and 26 ground balls.
Rising senior Liz Eberhart (Ellicott City, MD) and red-shirt junior Kelly Trahon (Needham, MA) were named captains for the 2004 squad.
The Terriers return 21 letterwinners and nine starters for the 2004 season.
