BOSTON - Alison Argentieri, a four-year starter on the B.U. women's basketball team from 1999-2003, will join the coaching staff as an administrative assistant Terrier head coach Margaret McKeon announced today (Tuesday, July 8).
As a member of the women's basketball team, Argentieri led the Terriers to their first back-to-back winning seasons in over a decade and their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Argentieri holds the program record for games played (116), and ranks second in career three-point field goals made (144), fifth in career assists (319), and seventh in career steals (170).
"Alison was an outstanding leader on the team during all four years of her career," said McKeon. "I really think this will be a great experience for Alison and for our team. I'm very excited to welcome her to our staff."
Following her senior season at the team's annual award banquet, Argentieri was presented the Renee Doctor Award, an award that honors a player who "best epitomizes a Terrier."
Argentieri graduated from the University's College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in English in May of 2003.
"I'm extremely happy that this opportunity came along," said Argentieri. "I'm eager to work with Coach Mckeon and the entire staff on a different level, learning what goes on behind the scenes."
A native of Hornell, N.Y., Argentieri became the first women's basketball player at Hornell High School to receive a Division I scholarship following her graduation. She scored over 1,000 points in her career at Hornell, receiving All-League honors three times.
Argentieri joins fifth-year head coach Margaret McKeon and assistant coaches Micah Hauben, Kathryn Otwell, and Susan Blauser on the Terrier coaching staff.
