Field Hockey Terriers To Host America East Championship

BOSTON - Boston University (11-5, 5-0) has clinched the No. 1 seed in the America East Field Hockey Championship and will host the championship at Jack Barry Field in Cambridge, Mass. on November 5 and 7.
The last time the Terriers earned the No. 1 seed in the conference championship was in 1999, when they went on to win their third tournament championship. They won their fourth title the next season as the No. 2 seed.
Northeastern (14-3, 4-1) and Maine (12-4, 4-1) have also qualified for the four-team championship. The winner of the Northeastern at Maine game on Saturday, October 30 (12 noon) will be the No. 2 seed. The loser is the No. 3 seed.
Albany (7-10, 2-3), New Hampshire (4-1, 2-3) and Vermont (2-15, 1-4) are battling for the final berth. If Albany wins at Vermont Saturday, October 30 (2:30 p.m.), the Great Danes are the No. 4 seed. If New Hampshire defeats Boston University Saturday, October 30 (2 p.m.) and Vermont defeats Albany, the Wildcats are the No. 4 seed. If Vermont wins and New Hampshire loses, the three teams (Albany, New Hampshire and Vermont) will be tied. The team with the best goal differential in conference games will be the No. 4 seed. New Hampshire enters the final game at (minus 5), Albany at (minus 6) and Vermont at (minus 8).
The winner of the America East Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Field Hockey Championship. Last season, Northeastern won its ninth America East Field Hockey title in the 14 seasons the conference has sponsored a championship.
