Boston University Signs Five Student-Athletes

BOSTON - Boston University women's basketball head coach Kelly Greenberg has announced that Jesyka Burks-Wiley (Kansas City, MO/Lincoln College Prep Academy), Kristi Dini (Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam Valley), Christine Kinneary (Hicksville, NY/Holy Trinity), Brianne Ozimok (Midhurst, ONT/St. Joseph's), and Amarachi Umez-Eronini (Washington, DC/Woodrow Wilson) have signed National Letters of Intent. The five student-athletes represent the Class of 2009 that will begin playing for the Terriers in the 2005-06 season.
Burks-Wiley, a 6-foot-1 forward, was a three-time Conference Player of the Year at Lincoln College Prep Academy in Kansas City, Mo. As a senior, Burks-Wiley averaged 19.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 3.0 assists per game while leading Lincoln Prep to the Missouri 4A State Championship game. Following her senior campaign, Burks-Wiley was named to the All-State, All-Conference, All-Metro, and Missouri-Kansas All-Star teams. Academically, Burks-Wiley was selected to the Principal's honor roll.
Dini, a 5-foot-10 guard, was a three-time All-League and All-Section honoree at Putnam Valley High School in Putnam Valley, N.Y. As a senior, Dini earned League Most Valuable Player honors, averaging 23.0 points per game while her team became the first-ever undefeated league champion. She earned All-State, All-Section, and All-Section Academic honors and received the Isabel Costa Award, presented to the top basketball player in her section. For her career, she totaled 1,397 points in just three seasons. She also excelled at field hockey, earning All-League and All-Section accolades following her junior and senior seasons. An honor roll student, Dini is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.
Kinneary, 5-foot-8 guard, recently completed her fourth varsity season at Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, N.Y. As a senior, Kinneary averaged 13.0 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals while earning Nassau County Player of the Year honors. She finished her career with 1,307 points and was named to the All-State and All-Long Island teams. In addition to her high school success, Kinneary led the New York Liberty Belles to the AAU Junior National Championship. Kinneary received the school's Magna Cum Laude and Academic Excellence Award for her efforts in the classroom.
Ozimok, a 6-foot-2 forward, averaged 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds as a senior at St. Joseph's High School in Barrie, Ontario. A three-time team captain, Ozimok earned Barrie City All-Star honors following her senior campaign. On the national level, she was named to the Nike All-Canada West Team in 2005. Ozimok also led the Barrie Royals to the 2002 Division 2 Provincial Championship while earning Provincial Championship MVP honors. Also excelling in volleyball, Ozimok was invited to participate in the 2003 Canadian National Volleyball Team Invitation Camp. She has been named to St. Joseph's Academic Honor Roll in each of the last four years.
Umez-Eronini, a 5-10 guard, scored over 1,500 points and grabbed over 1,000 rebounds during her career at Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C. As a senior, Umez-Eronini averaged 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.0 steals a game. An outstanding all-around athlete, she led Wilson to four straight DCIAA Volleyball titles and played four seasons of varsity lacrosse. Umez-Eronini has been named to the honor roll for four consecutive years and is a member of the National Honor Society.
B.U. (15-16, 7-11) wrapped up its 2004-05 campaign with an impressive post-season run, reaching the 2005 America East Championship finals as the league's eighth-seeded team. The Terriers return three starters and eight letterwinners for the 2005-06 season.
