Field Hockey Set to Face Fairfield, Dartmouth

Coming off a 2-1 overtime road win against Massachusetts, the Boston University field hockey team will return to action for two games at Dartmouth's Scully-Fahey Field this weekend. The Terriers (4-3) will face Fairfield in a neutral-site contest on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. before taking on Dartmouth the following day at 1 p.m.
Freshman Holly Wiles (Harare, Zimbabwe) was the story on Tuesday, as the rookie recorded both BU goals in the 2-1 overtime win over the Minutewomen. She has scored the Terriers' past three goals, including a game-tying tally late in regulation against Northeastern on Sept. 16. Wiles is second on the team in both goals (4) and points (8).
After winning its season opener with a 2-1 decision over UMass, Fairfield (1-8) has dropped eight straight contests, including three in overtime, heading into its matchup against Dartmouth on Friday. On Wednesday, the Stags fell 4-1 to Holy Cross.
Senior Kelly Rath leads the squad in points with 10, tallying three goals and four assists. Sophomore Briana Kaye has tallied a team-best four goals, while freshman Emily Janis and juniors Allison Maye and Caitlin Quinn have each scored twice. Saturday's matchup will be the first meeting ever between BU and Fairfield.
Dartmouth (3-1) opened the season with wins over Kent State and Brown before falling to Princeton. In its most recent game on Sept 18, the Big Green pulled a out a 2-1 win over Providence in a match that went to penalty strokes.
The Big Green has scored six goals this season and a different player has scored each time. Senior Lindsay Gossage and freshman Stef Miller have each tallied a goal and an assist to tie for the team lead in points with three. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Balukjian has been solid early on for Dartmouth, posting a 1.35 goals against average and an 80.6 save percentage through four contests.
Last season, BU posted a 4-1 home victory over the Big Green, getting two goals apeice from Pam Spuehler (Sudbury, Mass.) and Jen Joyce to take a 5-1 lead in the all-time series.
