BOSTON - Junior Emily Pallotta has been named to the 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 1 First Team and senior Marisha Schumacher-Hodge has been selected to the second team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. With her inclusion on the first team, Pallotta is now eligible for the 2008 Academic All-America Team.
Pallotta, a business administration and management major, and Schumacher-Hodge, an international relations major, are both having strong seasons in the midfield for a BU squad that just recently clinched its sixth regular-season title in nine seasons. Both Terriers are tied for the team lead with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Schumacher-Hodge was recently named the 2008 America East Midfielder of the Year and Pallotta earned second-team honors from the conference after a vote of the league's head coaches.
In order to be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-American status, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve, maintain a grade-point average of 3.30 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing.
BU will host its America East Women's Soccer Championship semifinal game on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. against the winner of the Hartford-Maine game on Thursday.
