BOSTON - Senior Marisha Schumacher-Hodge and juniors Casey Brown and Emily Pallotta have earned New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England honors, the organization announced on Thursday. Schumacher-Hodge and Brown were honored as first-team selections, while Pallotta earned second-team accolades.
As the team's central midfielder, Schumacher-Hodge found the back of the net five times, recorded two game-winners and added two assists for a team-leading 12 points. At the end of the season, she reclaimed her title as the America East Midfielder of the Year, carrying that momentum into the post-season to lift BU into the conference's championship game with the game-winning strike in the 55th minute against Maine. The three-time America East All-Conference First Team honoree also won the inaugural America East Fan's Choice Player of the Year award and recently earned NSCAAA All-Northeast Region accolades.
A staple of the Terriers' backline, Brown earned her second straight Defender of the Year award in addition to NSCAA All-Northeast Region accolades. She scored a timely first goal of the season when the Terriers and Hartford Hawks battled into double overtime on Oct. 26, heading home the game-winner off a corner kick. Throughout the year, Brown anchored a backline that allowed just 14 goals, finished 15th in the national ranks in goals-against average (0.62) and tied a program record for shutouts (12).
Pallotta patrolled the Terriers' flanks as a junior and went on to record four goals and two assists for 10 points in 2008. The Andover, Mass., native earned America East All-Conference Second Team accolades as well as a spot on the 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 1 First Team.
