December 21, 2009 | Women's Soccer
BOSTON - Boston University senior Emily Pallotta has been named to the prestigious 2009 NSCAA/adidas Women's College Scholar All-America Third Team, the organization has announced. It is one of the highest academic honors in women's college soccer and it highlights an accolade-filled offseason for the Andover, Mass. native.
Pallotta capped off a brilliant career in the scarlet and white with yet another strong season in 2009. She led the team in goals (8) and contributed three assists for 19 points, which gives her with 48 career points - ninth all-time. The 2009 AE Midfielder of the Year, Pallotta was a two-time America East All-Conference First Team honoree and was recently named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team and NEWISA All-New England squad.
To be nominated for consideration, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout their career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution and either be in their second year at the current school if a transfer student.
Pallotta is the second women's soccer player to earn All-America honors from the NSCAA this season, as classmate Casey Brown recently learned she was the first Terrier to earn NSCAA All-America honors since Meghann Cook accomplished the feat in 2005.
The NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-America selections will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, held in Philadelphia, Pa., on Jan. 16 as part of the 2010 NSCAA Convention.
