BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team (10-5-0, 5-0-0 AE) will take a break from conference action to face Dartmouth (3-6-1, 1-2 Ivy) on Wednesday evening at the Big Green's Burnham Field.
Aided by a seven-game winning streak, head coach Nancy Feldman and the women's soccer program are now one win away from their 200th victory. Feldman, a 22-year coaching veteran, currently ranks 13th all-time with 291 career victories and 12th among Division I coaches.
BU is 4-6-4 all-time against Dartmouth and all four ties in the series have come in four of the last six seasons. In 2008, the Terriers and Big Green battled to a 1-1 draw in Hanover, N.H., as then-sophomore Corie Halasz was the lone Terrier to find the back of the net in that contest. Last year, BU claimed a 1-0 victory in overtime off a goal from Emily Pallotta ('10).
Most recently, BU defeated Vermont, 7-0, behind impressive performances from a handful of Terriers, including graduate student Lisa Kevorkian and freshman Kylie Strom. Kevorkian netted two goals and added two assists en route to tying Stacy Schwartz ('98), Kara Olivo ('98) and Deirdre Enos' ('00) single-game record for points in a contest, while Strom is now tied with Schwartz and Nicole Soules ('01) for assists in a game. Both records had not been matched in 11 years.
BU, which now maintains a stronghold on first place in the league standings following its two-win week last week, leads the league in points (90), goals (34), assists (25), goals-against average (0.67) and shutouts (9). On an individual level, Kevorkian leads the America East in points (24) and goals (10), while Strom leads the league with six assists.
Defensively, the Terriers have boasted a seven-game shutout streak and have held opponents scoreless for 648:02 minutes, which spans eight games and dates back to a 3-0 loss to No. 12 Virginia. They are within two victories of tying a program record for longest winning streak, and three blank sheets away from matching the record for shutouts in a season.
The goalkeeping duo of Alice Binns (1st, 0.43) and Kelly King (2nd, 0.88) sits atop the conference in goals-against average, while Binns boasts the league's best save percentage (.903).
The Terriers close out their road stretch this weekend with Binghamton (Oct. 17).
