BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team (13-5-0, 7-0-0 AE) will be aiming to complete its first undefeated AE conference season in two years when it hosts Maine (7-7-0, 3-4-0 AE) on Sunday afternoon in the regular season finale at Nickerson Field. Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m.
BU, which has won 29 of its last 30 games against America East foes, has already clinched the regular season conference crown and the No. 1 seed in the America East Women's Soccer Championships. Following Sunday's finale, BU will have a week off before hosting a semifinal match at Nickerson Field on Oct. 31.
The Terriers have had an impressive season thus far, winning 10 straight contests to break a program record for consecutive wins, while also tying a team record for shutouts in a season (12). BU has also stretched their shutout streak to 918:02 minutes and 10 games, which is one of the longest streaks in NCAA history as it are now tied with six schools for sixth place.
On an individual level, numerous Terriers have had standout seasons. Leading the way on the offensive front is the duo of graduate student Lisa Kevorkian and junior Jessica Luscinski. Kevorkian has 13 goals and 30 points in 2010, which places her third for both single-season goals and points, respectively. With her assist on Thursday, Luscinski moved into a tie with former teammate Emily Pallotta ('10) for ninth place among BU's all-time scoring leaders with 48 points.
One of BU's trademarks over the years has been its stellar defense, and 2010 has proven no different. The goalkeeping duo of freshman Kelly King and Alice Binns has proven to be a formidable one as they have combined for 10 consecutive shutouts and 12 overall to rank eighth in the nation in shutout percentage. Binns leads the America East with a goals-against average of 0.38 and King trails closely behind in second with a 0.78 GPA.
