BOSTON - In its final game before a 17-day holiday break, the Boston University women's basketball team (3-7) will travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to face off with Marist (5-2) on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
THE TERRIERS: The Terriers recently snapped a four-game skid with a convincing 66-49 victory over in-state foe Massachusetts at Case Gym on Wednesday night. Still in search of their first road victory of season, they enter Saturday's game with three Terriers at the top of the America East standings in four statistical categories. Sophomore Mo Moran is the league leader in assists (4.2 pg) and assist/turnover ratio (1.4), while juniors Alex Young and Caroline Stewart rank first in 3-point field goals made (2.5 pg) and defensive rebounds (6.1 pg), respectively.
Young is currently one of two Terriers averaging double-figure scoring with 15.0 ppg as she is joined by sophomore Chantell Alford with 10.9 ppg. Senior Kerry Cashman is BU's leading rebounder (8.7 rpg) and shot blocker (16). Cashman needs to swat away just one more shot to break into the program's top 10 career leaders in that category.
BU VS. MARIST: The Terriers and Red Foxes are tied, 3-3, in the all-time series record, however, Marist has won three of the last four contests, including last year's 81-73 decision at Case Gym.
BU VS. THE MAAC: The Terriers own a 16-8 (.696) advantage over Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents all-time, and have faced a MAAC team in each of the last five seasons. BU owns winning records over four of the seven teams it has faced in the league.
