BOSTON - The Boston University women's basketball team (2-6) will look to snap a three-game losing streak as it takes on crosstown foe Northeastern (2-4) on Monday night at NU's Solomon Court. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
THE TERRIERS: Junior Alex Young has had a prolific campaign in 2010-11 as she currently leads the America East Conference with 16.5 ppg. She has been the Terriers' go-to sharp shooter as well with 20 treys in eight games to also rank at the top of the conference in that category. Sophomore Chantell Alford has suffered no sophomore slump as she is second on the team in scoring with 10.5 ppg. BU's forwards have also had impressive seasons as senior Kerry Cashman and junior Caroline Stewart have been the team's leading rebounders with 8.3 and 7.8 rpg, respectively. Cashman is also the squad's leading shot blocker with 13 on the season - good for second in the America East.
As a team, BU is shooting .352 from the field, but has improved its free-throw percentage to .616 after dipping below .500 in the early going.
BU VS. NORTHEASTERN: BU owns a 38-30 advantage over Northeastern in the all-time series. The Terriers have won 14 of the last 16 meetings, including back-to-back home victories. Northeastern was a long-time member of the America East, but in 2005-06 the Huskies joined the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). In 2005, head coach Kelly Greenberg earned her 100th career victory as a head coach against the Huskies.
BU VS. THE CAA: The Terriers are 72-90 (.438) all-time against the Colonial Athletic Association. While the Terriers are 38-30 all-time against Northeastern, they have only played them five times since the Huskies joined the conference. Under head coach Kelly Greenberg, BU is 6-2 against the conference.

LAST TIME OUT VS. NORTHEASTERN (NOV. 23, 2009): Mo Moran poured in a career-high 24 points and Alex Young added 19, as the women's basketball held off a late rally from cross-town rival Northeastern, 83-78, on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at The Roof. Chantell Alford and Aly Hinton ('10) chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively in the home victory.
BU led by 23 at the half, however, the Huskies did not relent as the chipped away at the lead and drew as close as four points late in the second half. Moran and Hinton were clutch at the free throw line as they hit 5-of-6 in the final minute to hold on for the victory.
Moran led all scorers with 24 points on 9-for-17 shooting and 3-for-6 from behind the arc, to go along with six assists and three steals. Young was 8-for-14 from the field, while Alford added a career-best 14 points. Hinton was a sterling 8-for-8 from the charity stripe and she pulled down seven boards.
The Terriers forced 16 miscues in the game and capitalized on their opportunities as they scored 22 points off turnovers. BU's bench made a big contribution to the game as it scored 19 points, while NU got seven points off the bench.
NEXT UP: BU will welcome in-state rival Massachusetts to Case Gym on Wednesday night at 5 p.m.
BLOCK PARTY: On Nov. 27, led by senior Kerry Cashman with five blocked shots, BU recorded 10 blocks in a game for the first time in 27 years. The last time a Terrier side swatted as many shots was on Jan. 25, 1983 against Rhode Island. It was four blocked shots off from a single-game school record.
STEWART REACHES 300 BOARDS: Junior Caroline Stewart recently reached the 300-rebound mark and now stands at 344. Stewart accomplished the feat vs. No. 17 Texas on Nov. 17, while teammate senior Kerry Cashman is a mere seven boards away from the milestone.
SEEING DOUBLE: Junior Alex Young has reached double-figure scoring in each of the last 18 games - dating back to Jan. 28, 2010.
ROAD WARRIORS: BU is in the midst of a stretch of games where it plays seven of nine contests on the road. Thus far, the Terriers have traveled to the LIU Turkey Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y., and URI (Dec. 1). Next they will travel crosstown to face Northeastern (Dec. 6) before welcoming UMass on Dec. 8. To close out the non-conference slate, BU will hit the road for three straight games - Marist (Dec. 11), Richmond (Dec. 28), and Providence (Dec. 31).
