BOSTON - The Boston University women's basketball team (2-7) will host its final game at Case Gym for nearly a month when it welcomes in-state foe Massachusetts (1-7) to The Roof for a 5 p.m. tip-off Wednesday night.
THE TERRIERS: BU is looking to rebound from a four-game losing skid as it has two more games this week before a 17-day holiday break. The Terriers host the Minutewomen on Wednesday before traveling to Marist on Saturday night for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
BU fields two Terriers who are averaging double-figure scoring this season with junior Alex Young posting a team-high 15.1 ppg and sophomore Chantell Alford recording 10.7 ppg. Meanwhile, the Terriers' front court has been a presence on the boards as senior Kerry Cashman owns a team-high 8.7 rpg, and junior Caroline Stewart averages 8.1 rpg. Cashman is also the team's leading shot blocker with 14 already on the season.
BU VS. UMASS: The Terriers and Minutewomen enjoyed a rivalry that spanned 15 years, before taking a 14-year hiatus after the 1992-93 season. The series is currently tied, 11-11, but BU has won six of the last nine meetings. The Terriers and Minutewomen renewed the rivalry in 2007 with BU taking the 72-60 decision at Case Gym on Nov. 28, 2007 and followed it up with an 82-75 victory in Amherst, Mass., in 2008. The win against the Minutewomen in 2009 was a crucial one as it was the starting point of the Terriers' historic 19-game winning streak in 2009.
BU VS. THE ATLANTIC 10: BU is 29-28 (.502) against Atlantic-10 schools. It owns winning records against URI (9-7), Dayton (1-0), Fordham (3-1), George Washington (1-0), and Temple (2-1). Over the past four seasons, BU has faced at least two A-10 opponents in each campaign, and this year is no different as the Terriers have already faced URI, and will also take on Richmond (Dec. 28).
Under head coach Kelly Greenberg, BU is 7-4 against the conference.

LAST TIME OUT VS. MASSACHUSETTS (Nov. 15, 2009): Freshman Mo Moran led three Terriers in double figures, however, the women's basketball team fell to UMass, 79-73, in overtime on Sunday, Nov. 15. Moran poured in 20 points and Alex Young and Aly Hinton ('10) netted 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Hinton recorded her first double-double of the season as she brought down 10 boards in the game, while Kerry Cashman and Caroline Stewart swatted away three shots each. Moran finished the game with two assists and three steals in addition to her 20-point performance.
The Terriers blocked eight shots in the contest which was the most by a Terriers side in nearly eight years until earlier this season when they knocked away 10 against LIU. The Terriers and Minutewomen each brought down 44 boards, while BU got 25 points from its bench. BU forced 21 turnovers and scored 20 off those miscues.
NEXT UP: BU will take on Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m., before a 17-day break.
FAMILIAR FOES: While the Minutewomen have a new head coach, the Terriers are no strangers to recently-appointed head coach Sharon Dawley and her staff. Dawley most recently was at the helm of the Vermont women's basketball team and over the last six seasons BU owns a 13-5 record against the Catamounts.
CASHMAN NEARING ANOTHER MILESTONE: After recently joining the 300-rebound mark, senior Kerry Cashman is also nearing another milestone as she needs just three more blocks to break into BU's top 10 all-time leaders for blocked shots.
BLOCK PARTY: On Nov. 27, led by senior Kerry Cashman with five blocked shots, BU recorded 10 blocks in a game for the first time in 27 years. The last time a Terrier side swatted as many shots was on Jan. 25, 1983 against Rhode Island. It was four blocked shots off from a single-game school record.
