
Ten Terriers Earn America East All-Conference Lacrosse Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Boston University lacrosse had a league-best 10 players earn a spot on the America East All-Conference teams, as announced Wednesday on the eve of the America East Championship. Senior McKinley Curro and junior Corcoran Downey were unanimous selections to the All-Conference First Team and were joined on the top squad by senior Traci Landy and junior Rachel Collins.
In addition to the four first-teamers, seniors Caitlin Defliese, Rachel Klein and Xan Weitzel were selected to the Second Team. Freshmen Danielle Etrasco, Kristen Mogavero and redshirt freshman Brittany Carlin were all among the 11 players picked to the league's All-Rookie Team
In addition to her first-team nod, Downey was named to the All-Academic Team, thanks to her on-field efforts and her 3.69 cumulative grade-point average as a health science major.
Curro, who was named to the First Team for the second consecutive year, leads the conference in both points (59) and goals (43) to go along with 16 assists. She enters the postseason having scored multiple goals in 10 straight games.
The team leader in caused turnovers with 24, Downey was promoted to the top team this season after earning second-team honors as a sophomore. She has also added 29 ground balls this spring.
A two-time second-team honoree, Landy is tied with Curro for the America East lead in goals with 43 and has added six assists for 49 points. The senior ranks second on the squad in draw controls with 29.
Collins, who leads the Terriers in both ground balls (38) and draw controls (32), earned all-conference recognition for the first time in her career and has added 20 points (11g, 9a) and 13 caused turnovers.
A tough defender, Defliese also received the first all-conference accolade of her career. She ranks third on the team in ground balls with 34 and has caused 19 turnovers while committing just six.
Klein was named to the Second Team for the third time in as many seasons after posting a 9.76 goals-against average and a .480 save percentage in the regular season while starting all 17 games.
Weitzel, a repeat selection to the All-Conference Second Team, leads all America East players in assists with 28 and has added eight goals for a point total of 36, which ranks third on the team.
Etrasco has made an immediate impact with 22 points on 18 goals and four assists while adding 23 draw controls. Mogavero, Etrasco's high school teammate, has also stood out as a rookie with 16 points on the strength of 15 goals. Carlin, who missed last season due to injury, is one of only five Terriers with double-digit ground balls (11), draw controls (10) and caused turnovers (11).
