The Boston University women’s basketball team will attempt to achieve its first win on the road this season when the Terriers take on Yale on Wednesday evening. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
BU (3-4) is coming off its first-ever game against West Virginia, as the Terriers visited the Mountaineers last Saturday. BU ended the first half trailing by nine, 39-30, before West Virginia opened the second half with an 8-0 run to pull away from the Huskies, as the Mountaineers earned the 78-53 victory.
Junior guard Chantell Alford became the 20th Terrier in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau, as her 3-pointer with 3:16 remaining in the first half hit the mark right on the dot. Alford leads the team with 13.9 points per game while senior Alex Young (13.4) and junior Mo Moran (11.3) are also averaging double-digit scoring figures. Senior Caroline Stewart and sophomore Rashidat Agboola are tied for the team-high, as they both average 7.9 rebounds per game.
Yale enters Wednesday’s contest with a 4-3 record coming off a 77-45 loss at Delaware on Monday night. Junior guard Megan Vasquez is the Bulldogs’ leading scorer, averaging 15.0 points per game while sophomore forward Janna Graf is second on the team with 10.6 ppg and averages a team-high 5.9 rebounds per game.
The Terriers are 10-2 all-time against Yale and won the last meeting, an 83-64 victory at Case Gym on Nov. 17, 2010. Head coach Kelly Greenberg is 2-1 all-time against the Bulldogs. Wednesday’s contest marks the end of a three-game road swing for the Terriers. BU will return to Case Gym on Saturday to host Marist. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
