The Boston University lacrosse team is pleased to announce two clinics to take place on Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. One clinic will be for high school and experience players, with a second clinic for youth and beginner players.
The high school clinic will begin at 8 a.m., and it will last until 12 p.m. The youth clinic will begin at 12:30 p.m., and it will run until 3:30 p.m. The cost per player is $75 for the high school clinic and $45 for the youth clinic.
"We're excited about having the opportunity to provide a youth clinic in addition to our high school aged clinic,” head coach Liz Robertshaw said. "It’s a winning situation for us any time we have the chance get more players excited about playing lacrosse and grow the game in New England. I'm told all the time that these younger girls look up our players as role models and this will be a great opportunity to bring them together."
Robertshaw, along with assistant coaches Lauren Morton and Katie Hertsch and several BU players will provide instruction at both clinics. Coaching at the high school clinic will be geated towards elevating individual stick work, game creativity, shooting skills, defensive knowledge, advanced goaltending, and overall confidence within the game all before the high school season.
The youth clinic is designed to get players excited about lacrosse and will focus on developing and improving stick work, solid passing techniques, improved catching skills, fundamental shooting skills, successful dodging, defending, goalkeeping, and individual confidence.
Along with the clinics, Robertshaw will be hosting a free “Coaches Chalk Talk” from 1-2:30 p.m., which will cover practice drills, plays, defenses, philosophies and anything else determined by the coaches in attendance.
