CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After helping No. 12 Boston University remain undefeated in conference play, senior Jess Maroney and freshman Rachel Coll have been named the America East Field Hockey Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced on Monday.
The Terriers topped No. 25 Maine, 3-1, on Friday to remain tied with No. 20 New Hampshire atop the league standings at 3-0.
Maroney did not allow a goal in her two halves of play over the weekend, making two saves against both the Black Bears and Hofstra on Sunday. She improved her save percentage to .840, which ranks second in the nation, and lowered her goals-against average to 1.09, good for sixth.
In the triumph over Maine, Coll scored a goal and assisted on the game-tying tally. She found the boards from the middle of the circle off a nice feed from junior Amira Downes at 55:04 of the contest.
This marks the third time this season that Maroney has earned the weekly defensive honor, while Coll also earned the rookie accolade back on Sept. 24.
The Terriers will return to action on Friday (Oct. 19) when they visit New Hampshire for a 7 p.m. contest. The winner will earn at least a share of the conference regular-season title.
