Former Boston University field hockey standout Nikki Lloyd (CAS'09) has been named to Scotland's squad for the Electric Ireland FIH Champions Challenge I competition, which will be taking place in Dublin, Ireland, beginning Sept. 29.
Head coach Gordon Shepherd revealed the 18-player roster on Wednesday and mentioned that "the likes of Aileen Davis, Susan McGilveray and Nikki Lloyd have successfully demonstrated their cases for inclusion in the squad after excellent performances."
The Scots earned the bronze medal in last year's FIH Champions Challenge. This year, they will face hosts Ireland, South Africa and USA in Pool A. Australia, Belgium, India and Wales comprises Pool B.
Scotland's first match will be against Team USA on the opening day of the tournament. The U.S. squad posted a 3-0 victory over Scotland in the semifinals of last year's Champions Challenge.
After transferring to BU in 2008 from Virginia Commonwealth, Lloyd played two seasons for the Terriers under head coach Sally Starr and totaled 31 points (12g, 7a) in 38 games. As a senior in 2009, Lloyd was named to the America East All-Conference First Team and was selected to play in the NFHCA Division I All-Star Game.
