Women's Lacrosse Game at Stony Brook Postponed to Sunday

BOSTON – Due to the ongoing situation in Boston, the Boston University women’s lacrosse game at No. 10 Stony Brook has been rescheduled for Sunday (April 21) at 6 p.m. at Lavalle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y.
The game was originally scheduled for Saturday (April 20) at 1 p.m. Both universities, in conjunction with the America East Conference, made the decision in order to protect the safety of the BU student-athletes and staff.

Sunday’s game will be the final America East Conference game for BU, as the Terriers are headed to the Patriot League on July 1. BU enters the game with a 5-7 overall record and a 2-3 mark in conference play while No. 10 Stony Brook is 12-2 on the year and 4-0 in America East action. The teams will meet for the 13th time on Sunday with the Terriers owning an 11-1 all-time advantage. Stony Brook’s only win in the series came during the 2007 season.
The Terriers are looking to rebound from a 13-12 loss at New Hampshire on Wednesday. Senior Kristen Mogavero led BU with four goals and now has 29 on the season while classmate Danielle Etrasco added three goals to up her season total to 46 goals. Etrasco also has a team-high 14 assists to lead the Terriers with 60 points. Junior Elizabeth Morse is third on the team with 19 goals.
Etrasco leads the Terriers with 31 draw controls while junior Sydney Godett and freshman Jill Horka are tied for second with 22 each. Horka and Etrasco also lead the team with 18 caused turnovers while junior Christina Sheridan has a team-high 32 ground balls.
Sheridan has played the majority of time in goal for BU and owns an 11.85 goals against average and a .439 save percentage.
Stony Brook is ranked 10th in both major polls and is currently riding a seven-game winning streak following a 16-6 win over New Hampshire on April 13. The Seawolves own the nation’s largest scoring margin (+10.57) and are second with a scoring offense that averages 15.71 goals per game. Stony Brook is only allowing opponents to score 5.14 goals per game, which also leads Division I.
Senior Demmianne Cook leads the country with 4.64 goals per game and has totaled 65 goals this season while classmate Claire Petersen has a team-high 38 assists to go with 25 goals. Cook also leads the team with 61 draw controls and 18 caused turnovers while sophomore Michelle Rubino has a team-best 30 ground balls.
Junior goalkeeper Frankie Caridi leads the country with a 5.18 goals against average and is second in save percentage (.545). She has been a part of Stony Brook’s defense that has held opponents to single-digits in 13 of its 14 games this season.
The Terriers will close out the regular season with three non-conference games on the road. BU’s first stop will be New Haven, Conn., to take on Yale on Wednesday (April 24). Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
