CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Danielle Etrasco along with freshmen Jill Horka and Sofia Robins earned America East All-Conference honors, the league office announced on Thursday.
For the third straight season, Etrasco was named to the All-Conference First Team while Horka earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team. Horka also joined Robins on the All-Rookie Team. Junior Sydney Godett was also honored by the conference, as she received All-Academic Team accolades for the second consecutive season.
Etrasco earned first team honors after ranking second in the nation with 3.80 goals per game. Her 57 goals leads BU and she needs just one more goal in the Terriers’ final game to tie her career-high of 58 goals, which she achieved in 2012. The Tewaaraton Trophy nominee also leads the team in assists (20) and points (77) and is one of two Terriers to register at least one point in every game this season.
The Massapequa, N.Y., native has demonstrated her dominance all over the field while recording a team-high 42 draw controls and ranking second on the squad with 21 caused turnovers. The attack also has 18 ground balls on the season.
Horka was named to the second team and All-Rookie team after a standout freshman season. She has appeared in all 15 games, making 11 starts, and ranks second in the conference with 1.47 caused turnovers per game. Her 31 draw controls also rank second for BU and she has also collected 25 ground balls on the season.
The Westborough, Mass., native proved she also has the ability to score, as she recorded nine goals during her rookie campaign. Four of her tallies have been on free position shots and she netted at least one goal against four conference opponents.
Robins was also named to the All-Rookie team after finishing the season with 12 goals and two assists for 14 points. She played in every game for BU and made 14 starts in her first season as a Terrier. The midfielder scored at least one goal in every conference game and posted a career-high two tallies in back-to-back games at New Hampshire and Stony Brook.
The Stevenson, Md., native tied for third on the team with 26 draw controls while recording 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
Godett received her second All-Academic team nod following a successful season both in and out of the classroom. She maintained a 3.67 GPA as a communications major while recording a career-high 19 points with 13 goals and six assists. She appeared in all 15 games, making 14 starts, while recording 26 draw controls and 23 ground balls.
The Terriers conclude their 2013 campaign on Sunday (May 5) when BU travels to Durham, N.C., to take on No. 7/10 Duke. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
