BOSTON - After two excellent offensive efforts last week, the Boston University women's soccer team looks to keep its momentum going in its non-conference finale against Dartmouth on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Nickerson Field on BU Faculty and Staff night.
The Terriers scored a combined eight goals last week against Harvard and Lafayette, which nearly doubled its previous season goal count of 14 through the first 12 games.
Dartmouth is a familiar opponent for BU, playing the Big Green nearly every year since the program's inception. Tuesday will be the 19th meeting between the two squads and Dartmouth currently has the slight upper-hand in the series with a 7-6-5 record.
Last season BU and Dartmouth settled for a 1-1 tie when the Big Green scored a goal in the 84th minute to force extra time. Erica Kosienski scored for the Terriers in the first half but they couldn't hold on to the lead in the final minutes and ended in a stalemate after two overtime periods.
Dartmouth is 3-3-4 this season and has tied in its last two contests. The two squads have only played one team in common--Northeastern, a game that the Big Green won in a 1-0 result, the same score as BU's loss to the Huskies. It took until the second overtime period, however, for Dartmouth to score the game-winner.
The Big Green is 1-3-1 in road contests this season, with its only victory coming against Vermont, a decisive 4-0 result, on Sept. 21.
Lucielle Kozlov leads the Big Green in points and goals with nine and four, respectively. Tasha Wilkins is the only other Dartmouth player with multiple goals this year, scoring three in just six games played.
Three goalies have seen action this year but Tatiana Saunders has the majority of the minutes under her belt and has a 1-3-4 record. She allows an average of 0.9 goals per contest and has a 0.789 save percentage.
Kosienski has had a breakout week for the Terriers, totaling seven points over the last two games which included three goals and an assist and both game-winning goals. The sophomore forward has scored in each of the last three games and has a point in the last four after recording just one assist in the first 10 matches.
Last week the Terriers took two wins, beating Harvard 2-1 in the second overtime period and earning a 6-1 victory against Lafayette, the most goals the team has scored since 2011 when BU scored eight against Maryland Baltimore County.
