BOSTON - One of three unbeaten teams in the Patriot League, the Boston University women's soccer team looks to continue its streak at Loyola Maryland on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Terriers are currently in second place in the conference while Loyola, which has not won a PL contest this season, sits in ninth place.
BU has been on a hot streak, going undefeated for the past seven games, dating back to Sept. 20 when the Terriers opened conference play with a win over Navy. The squad has also claimed victory in each of the last three matches, starting with a 2-1 double overtime win at Harvard, then a decisive 6-1 result against Lafayette and most recently a 1-0 nail-biter against Dartmouth in BU's non-conference finale.
This is the third time the teams have met, and will be the second as conference opponents. Last season the Terriers escaped with a 1-0 win against the Greyhounds at Nickerson Field when Erica Kosienski netted the game-winner in the 82nd minute.
Loyola is 4-8-2 this season but 0-3-2 in PL matches. The Greyhounds were on a five-game losing skid until this past Tuesday, when they managed to tie Lehigh, 0-0. Despite its lack of wins, Loyola has not allowed many goals, particularly during its conference schedule. The Greyhounds have allowed just four goals in their five Patriot League contests and have permitted opponents to score an average of 1.14 goals per game this year.
Jessica Van Dyke leads Loyola in points and goals with nine and four, respectively. Only two other Greyhounds have multiple goals with Rosy Hayes and Jess Soldiviero netting two apiece this season.
Colleen Folan has played every minute in goal this year and has recorded six shutouts. She has been steadfast in all of Loyola's wins, not allowing a single goal in any of its victories this season. Folan has a 1.1 goals against average and 0.761 save percentage.
Earlier this week, BU defeated Dartmouth 1-0 when Jamie Turchi headed in the game-winning goal in the 57th minute off a free kick by Alyvia Wimmer.
