Former Boston University women’s basketball standout Chantell Alford (’13) recently helped lead her professional team, Tsmoki-Minsk, to the Belarus Championship in her first season playing basketball overseas.
Tsmoki-Minsk was crowned the Belarusian champion last weekend for the first time in the team’s history with a 68-55 victory over Horizon to secure the championship series by a 3-1 margin. Alford ranked second on the team with 17 points in the championship game.
The West Haven, Connecticut native capped her outstanding career with the Terriers in 2013 as the first player in America East history to win three Player of the Year awards. The four-time All-Conference First Team member finished her BU career with 1,802 points, which ranks third all-time in program history.
Alford also owns the school record for most made 3-pointers in a career (244) and her 81 treys last year were the second most in a single season in BU history. She also ranks seconds in minutes played (4,061), fourth in steals (264) and seventh in assists (349).
