BOSTON - Entering its first season with head coach and former Olympian Katy Steding, the Boston University women's basketball team has released the 2014-15 schedule. The challenging 29-game slate features a pair of contests at the New Mexico Thanksgiving Tournament and six games against in-state rivals.
Season tickets for women's basketball will be $65 for the general public with special pricing for faculty/staff and young alumni ($39). Last year's season ticket holders can renew by logging into their account on AgganisArena.com. Fans can make a deposit for season tickets by visiting AgganisArena.com. For more information, they can also visit the ticket office at 925 Commonwealth Avenue on Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. or call 617-353-GOBU (4628).
In total, the Terriers will face off against 20 squads who finished last season with 12 or more wins, highlighted by nine-time defending MAAC champion Marist (27-6). They will start the season at crosstown rival Northeastern on Friday, Nov. 14, and then open the 13-game home schedule at Case Gym on Monday, Nov. 17, against Harvard, who advanced to the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
BU will remain in town for the next two contests, as it visits Boston College (Nov. 20) and then hosts former America East foe Vermont (Nov. 22). Up next is the long flight westward to New Mexico's tournament, which will be held Nov. 28-29 with 2014 Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) runner-up Stephen F. Austin and UC Riverside also participating in the event.
After hosting New Hampshire (Dec. 3), the Terriers hit the road for three straight games, making visits to Yale (Dec. 6), Rhode Island (Dec. 9) and Marist (Dec. 13). BU then takes a two-week break and concludes the non-conference schedule at home against UMass on Dec. 28.
Last season, all but one team in the Patriot League finished with an RPI score of 230 or better to help the conference rank as the 11th toughest out of 32. The Terriers tip off their second year in the league with four of the first six games taking place in Case Gym, starting with Holy Cross on Dec. 31.
In-between trips to Lehigh (Jan. 3) and Lafayette (Jan. 10), the Terriers host Navy (Jan. 7) and then later welcome Colgate (Jan. 14) and Loyola (Jan. 17) to campus. Up next is a pair of road trips with visits to American (Jan. 21) and Bucknell (Jan. 24).
A home match-up on Jan. 28 with defending PL champion Army marks the end of the first go-round in the conference. After hosting Lehigh (Jan. 31), the Terriers start the month of February at Navy (Feb. 4) and then return to campus to face Lafayette (Feb. 7).
Four of the final six games in the regular season take place on the road, beginning with trips to Colgate (Feb. 11) and Loyola (Feb. 14). The Terriers end the home slate against American (Feb. 18) and Bucknell (Feb. 21) before the concluding the regular season at Army (Feb. 25) and Holy Cross (Feb. 28).
The Patriot League tournament, which will be played entirely at home sites, will feature all 10 conference teams. The first round will be played with the seventh-seed hosting the 10th-seed and the eighth-seed hosting the ninth-seed. The tournament will then move to the quarterfinal round which will be held at the top four remaining seeds, followed by the semifinals at the highest remaining seeds.
The Patriot League Championship game will then be played at the highest remaining seed. Dates for the event will be announced at a later time.
